Kerry Bishop

Kerry Bishop, update as of September 2006.

I have just started my thirteenth year of teaching at
Hunter Junior High School.  Five classes of ninth
grade English and two classes of eighth grade English.
Hopefully, thirteen is a lucky number for me.  So far
so good.  I started teaching after spending nineteen
years with Utah Power, where I ran a distribution
warehouse for many years (in Midvale, which is now the
vacant red brick building by the 7200 South Trax
station).  I was a Customer Service Rep out of the
same location for a couple of years.  I then ran a
Power Dept. warehouse at the Terminal Substation for a
year, and my final position was as an Investment
Recovery Specialist (we sold the old stuff, scrap
wire, vehicles, etc.).  I did this for just over two
years.  My time there ended with a departmental
reorganization and a Reduction in Force. (The infamous
RIF.  I was Riffed!)  That was when I decided that it
was time to put my college degree to use, and I landed
the job at Hunter Junior.  Initially, I thought that
it would be a stepping stone to a high school
position.  Who knew that I would like teaching junior
high school?  Maybe it's because I just never grew up
. . .

I was married for the first time in 1979 and became
the proud father of three children:  Melissa, age 24;
Stephanie, age 22, and Alex, age 19 (20 in November).
I was separated from my first wife at the time of the
thirty year reunion, and divorced about a year later.

I married again in 2004, to a beautiful lady named Les
(no, not that Leslie, a different one), and became the
proud step-father of four more kids:  Amy, age 17;
David, age 16; Marcus, age 14; and Kevran, age 12.
Les is the general manager of the Borders Book Outlet
in Park City.

My oldest, Melissa, has a daughter, Kylie who is three
and a half and who calls me "Punka."  Being a
grandparent is a great gig, as I'm sure that some of
you already know.

And that's the scoop, so far.
